Festival for contemporary circus in the Volksgarten in Salzburg

The Winterfest, the largest festival for contemporary circus in Austria, has been able to bring this art form closer to the public since 2001. Contemporary Circus is a collection of various art forms. The spectrum ranges from visual art to performing arts with dance, music, drama, acrobatics or puppet theater.

Since 2001, the Winterfest has been bringing well-known groups of the contemporary Circus to the Volksgarten Salzburg. A wide range of different circus companies, mostly from France, but also from Spain, Switzerland or the UK, have already been guests at the tents in the Salzburg Volksgarten.

Perfect Teamwork, acrobatics on the highest level, a great sound and a lot of fun. These were the ingredients for a perfect premiere of  »A Simple Space« by Gravity & Other Myths on December 7 in the circus tent.
The audience thanked the australian artists with standing ovations and roaring applause. The award-winning show will be at the Winterfest until January 8.

The Winterfest was opened by the austrian premiere of »Timber!« from Cirque Alfonse at November 30. The audience was trilled about the energetic show and honored the canadian company with roaring applause and Standing Ovations!

It was the perfect start for the following weeks, in which the artists will show the audience a part of their home in Quebec. The five artists and three musicians bring a collection of the daily routines of lumberjacks on stage with a soundtrack of banjo and violin. The exuberant atmosphere and the little poetic moments make the show really special and perfect for the Winterfest –  a programme for the whole family which is usually unusual!
